Collection: Traditional Embroidery

Koreans have been making thread and weaving cloth since ancient times. However, it was not until the 7th century that complicated patterns with thread of more than 5 colors were produced. In contrast, embroidery was free to create patterns much earlier than this and had no limits to size or form of expression. Embroidery is more effective than weaving when it comes to freely making rich patterns. The names of Korean craftswomen have been recorded as artists since embroidery was viewed as works of artistic value and included as part of decoration art industry.
